Health and Safety

Heery has a Health and Safety Department, staffed by IOSH qualified safety professionals. Our Health and Safety Policy is accredited to ISO 18001.

Our safety team undertake project audits, provide advice to management and staff, and provide a Planning Supervisor service.

Being part of Balfour Beatty Group, Heery's safety team are members of one of the UK's largest and most respected Health and Safety organisations. Our managers receive regular training updates to reinforce their core health and safety training that is undertaken against a competency matrix. Our managers are CSCS Registered.

Our guiding principles, irrespective of which service we provide, are:

• Assess risk first.

• Say what we do and do what we say;
• Do not undermine others by accepting lower standards;
• If we see something unsafe - stop work;
• As a business we get the behaviour from our staff and suppliers and customers that we tolerate.

• We will not accept others working unsafely and we must all work to set standards and to see compliance by others with these;
• we aim to improve our safety performance rather than maintain it, and each year set.
  

We maintain Key Performance Indicators to measure improved performance, and Safety Objectives to provide focus.

Where Heery act as Principal Contractor, we recognise that the authority vested in us under the Construction Design and Management Regulations 1994 give our management team statutory powers and obligations in respect of Health and Safety matters. As a consequence, each member of our management team has been trained and understands our Statutory powers and obligations.
